Open plan living room design
We designed this apartment in Nottingham which needed to work as a multi-use space. This is a regular occurrence with many open-plan living spaces which need to serve more than one purpose. With this in mind, we subtly zoned each portion of the room to create intimate spaces within the larger area.
The design consisted of a neutral backdrop as we wanted to make the most use most of natural light. This was supported by sheer curtains so the light could flood into the room.
For the overall colour scheme we opted to add character through soft hues. We created balance by adding a few colourful accents which we incorporated across the various zones in your open-plan space. We added variants of the same tone to make the room feel spacious and cohesive.
For the dining area we used soft textures and calm colours to create a welcoming, relaxed vibe.
We zoned the areas for chilling out and resting, dining, and home working.
Consistency is key for open plan spaces making it look streamlined and elegant. We created a visual link between spaces by choosing matching furniture. Pale neutral walls allow colourful accessories to become the main feature, seamlessly blending one zone into another.
